Over the past year or so I have apparently bought into Ryobi’s One+ system hook, line, and sinker. This is my new rotary tool and my new hot glue gun. I’m almost ready.
Last night I learned about Tinkercad for designing and testing projects. I couldn’t sleep.
I ran to the thrift store on my lunch today and picked up a few hilarious components. I have an idea for the throwing stars – you just wait.
I was trying to think of a good Star Trek costume last week. I wanted to do either a Kirk (Shatner) movie-era Starfleet uniform or a Picard movie-era Starfleet uniform, but I would hope for screen ready quality. Then it occurred to me – I should be a Borg Drone.
I’ve done zombie costumes many times in the past, and what I like about them is that they’re sloppy and imperfect. That makes it easier for someone like me who doesn’t know what they’re doing. The Borg are similar to zombies in this way.
My gears started turning and, pretty quickly, I realized I could use a computer to control lights, sounds, and motors in the form of an Arduino UNO. It turns out I am not the first person to think of this. I have a Raspberry Pi 4, but I want to use it for other hobbies. I’ve already started purchasing hoses and stuff!
